Message My original Z was a Red '96 NA, which I purchased in the summer of '98 with 5,000 miles. I sold it in '00 and immediately regretted it. After selling it, I planned on purchasing 90-95 TT. Preferably a '95.

I purchased my ’95 TT in November of 2003 in Minneapolis, MN (I was working there at the time). The car was stock with 49,000 miles and was in excellent condition. It was originally Sapphire Pearl Blue (I know some people probably feel I ruined the car by repainting it). The current color is Deep Blue Pearl Metallic (Color of the R32 VW).

I would like to give special thanks to Chris Britton of Boost-Pro.net for his help with making my car what it is today. I met Chris while living in MN. I originally met him through twinturbo.net and he helped me install my Cybercraft A pillar w/boost and oil temp gauges. I also purchased the majority of my mods through him and was able to save several thousand dollars over retail.

Mods I do not recommend are the Border 60mm piping kit and the Cybercraft A pillar. My Border piping kit has been riddled with boost leaks due to the improper sized Samco Hoses that were provided with it. This spring, I plan on purchasing transition (step) hoses to properly fit the Border piping to the stock piping. I've tried to adjust the hoses several times, but they will not hold at high boost. The Border kit is overkill with the mods that I have, and probably doesn't provide a significant increase in hp. For cars pushing 600+ rwhp, I'm sure the kit would be beneficial with the proper hoses.

The Cybercraft A pillar is an expensive piece of junk. I believe I paid somewhere between $100 to $150 for it, and it does not come with any mounting hardware. If anybody plans on purchasing an A-pillar pod (I know many people are against it), I would recommend finding one that clamps to the stock A-pillar.

Because I have yet to track my car, I probably shouldn't have installed the leader gears. With street tires, it's difficult to find traction with such low gearing. With slicks, I'm sure the gears are beneficial. If you drag your car at the strip, then I would definitely recommend the gears.

I installed most of my mods in spring of '05 and cracked 4 pistons before the end of the summer. I rebuilt the motor in spring of '06. I now usually run 100 octane fuel in the car, due to fear of detonation. I believe I was running between 19-20 lbs of boost when I blew the motor in the summer of '05.

Some people may have seen my car listed for sale on autotrader.com in the fall of '06. However, I decided not to sell it.

My future plans are to upgrade the brakes, install strut and sway bars, and to have the car tuned on a dyno with the Zemulator. Currently, I have not dyno'd the car.

I would like to give a big thanks to the hosts and moderators for their time and effort in maintaining this site and to the active members who provide constructive information. The wealth of knowledge on this site is incredible. Also, the drama between some members can be quite entertaining ;).

Lately, I have not been very active on this site, so I apologize if I am unable to reply to anyone’s responses. Thanks.

Dave
